08-13-22 Wonderland Trail:
Day 11 started off with a lot of condensation in the tent. Good thing it only takes a bandana to wipe it down.

We knew we had an uphill right off the bat but was surprised at how nasty it was. Part I was rough and steep. At one point three of us took off our packs to crabwalk under a huge downed tree. Jayne squeezed through with pack on hands and knees. Then steep up, up, up.

Part II was a little bit easier but the overgrowth was thick and had to really slow down to make sure a hidden rock didn't take us down.

Finally started seeing wildflowers again which meant we were close to Klapatche Park. Having heard so much about Klapatche Park I had expected something spectacular, but the clouds were way down and the view was blocked. Klapatche Park does have a small shallow lake chock-a-block full of pollywogs/tadpoles so Jayne, Jay and Karen decided to hike up .8 mi to St Andrews Lake to gather their water. I made do with the lake at camp by first filtering the water through my bandana and then through my filter.

Met two delightful married volunteer rangers from Fall City who were staying a couple of nights at this camp. They have worked for the National Park Service for 20 years, and the last four as volunteer rangers. How cool is that... Celebrated Karen's birthday complete with dessert. Happy Birthday Karen!
