After completing the Pacific Crest Trail in August 2018, my hiking friend Seasoned Strider and I decided to do another long distance trail and selected the Colorado Trail for August/September 2019. This trail runs for approximately 500 miles from the Waterton Canyon south of Denver to Durango. The highest point of this trail is 13,771 feet above sea level. Most of the trail is above 10,000 feet. The trail is divided into 33 segments, which includes the five segments that makes up the Collegiate West alternative route.
Our favorite personal trail angel, my husband Dave, followed along in our motorhome resupplying us at various points. It was a total luxury to have him along and we are grateful from the top of our heads to the bottom of our toes for his support.
