It was a pleasant night at the Lake George campground. As we were heading out, Carole became nauseous from the elevation. She's okay, just adjustng to the elevation. Stopped at the famous Schats Bakery in Mammoth Lakes for breakfast and then continued south towards Lone Pine.

Had a short detour at Pleasant Valley Campground to drop off the trailer. The campground is quite rustic but the sign on the entrance stated "Wild Trout" in the river that flowed through.

Onwards to Lone Pine where we picked up, yes you guessed it, Subway sandwiches! Could also see Mt Whitney in the distance.

Found the Horseshoe Meadows road and drove up the windy, no guardrail road to almost the end where we were stopped by a locked gate.

There were cars parked on either side of the road. We finished up with last minute instructions (Carole's husband Greg and friend Duane, our trail angels for this trip), did a few pics, and started walking the road to the campground.

It was a short walk, little over a half mile, but we were happy because our packs were full and heavy. Found three tent platforms and made camp.

Other backpackers streamed in the rest of the afternoon and evening. One fellow stopped by to let us know that the latch was broken on the day-use area bathroom. We were so happy! We stopped here deliberately to acclimate at the 10,000 ft level. The rest of the evening passed quietly and we were ready for bed by 7pm.
