Hiking With Gadget Girl

It's All About The Adventure!

Another cold morning again, 28 degrees on the thermometer. Had a little condensation on the top of the tent but my quilt was covered with it. I think I expell quite a bit of moisture at night. Got going at 7:35am and stopped at Cottonwood Pass. Lo and behold there was cell service there! Sent my two journals. Arrived at Chicken Spring Lake (don't you love that name?) where Pebbles realized she had forgotten her bug spray back at Cottonwood Pass.

As she didn't want to be without bug spray for the next five days, she hustled back to the pass to get it, .7 miles back. Back together again we continued on upwards. As we were gaining elevation, we stopped to admire the trees, rocks, and the surrounding mountains.

The day was cool in the shade, warm in the sun, and breezy. I used my umbrella most of the day. We finally started down and dropped 2,418 feet to Rock Creek where we would spend the night. We took advantage of the lovely creek and rinsed out our shirts, bandanas, and hair. Haven't had a shower now for four days and it was great to clean up.
