Last night's elevation was at 8,490 ft and we had a mighty climb to the top of Pinchot Pass at 12,130 for an elevation gain of 3,640 ft. Ugh. But we kicked off the day with some fun on the suspension bridge. Seasoned Strider loves to swing this thing. She looks like a drunken sailor coming across the bridge. Pebbles said no way was she swinging it!
Seasoned Strider was a tad dizzy when she reached the other side and I laughed myself silly watching her make her way across.
We had 7.4 miles to the top of Pinchot Pass and passed numerous waterfalls and slides.

An older hiker caught up with us who we nicknamed "Too Close John" as he kept coming up close to us and chugging air all other us. Then he tells us that he just returned from Los Angeles, that businesses were shutting down again due to Covid-19, and he huffs all over us! Well, we started to hide in the bushes to get away from him. At one corner I stopped to drink water not knowing he was behind the tree taking a pee break. Scared me, scared him! I made some excuse for him to move on and we slowed our pace to stay away from him. We think we are safe now.
This section leading up to the pass is quite beautiful. Lots of different colors in the surrounding hills.

Three quarters of the way up, a southbound hiker rounded the corner, sees me and says "hey pretty lady"! Well, I laughed out loud and responded, "hey handsome"! Seasoned Strider and Pebbles joined me and we had a great time talking to this guy. Such fun! Finally arrived at the top of Pinchot Pass at 12:25pm, had lunch, then headed down to the South Fork Kings River for the night.

A huge rock looks like sliced cookie dough ready for the oven.
