Hiking With Gadget Girl

It's All About The Adventure!

Pebbles had a rough night. Her air pad deflated and continued to deflate even after blowing air into it all night long. The rubber seal that prevents air loss went missing so it couldn't stay inflated. She was freezing all night long and was pretty tired from lack of sleep. The next challenge was getting over the creek without getting our shoes/feet wet. We lengthened our poles and hopped onto the skinny log that reached across the creek. Worked like a charm...

We started up and over Guyot Pass at 10,925 ft. The trail meandered through the Sequoia trees, big gorgeous and old trees.

We found this great tree that if you tapped it in various areas it would play musical "notes" from the bark separating from the trunk.

Another huff and puff over the last hill and we arrived at Whitney Creek for lunch.

Crossing Whitney Creek. The water was so refreshing!

Tons of fingerlings whipping around in the clear water.

We took the alternate trail up to Crabtree Meadow where Seasoned Strider and Pebbles took advantage of the popular "privy".

The last part up to Guitar Lake at the 11,486 ft was the most challenging as it was at the end of the day, the sun was beating down, and there were many "staircases" to climb.

Finally arrived at Guitar Lake, found a spot for the night, and Seasoned Strider and Pebbles prepared their packs for the hike up to Mt Whitney in the early morning. I had already hiked Mt Whitney back in 2012 so didn't feel inclined to suffer the altitude at the 14,505 feet level again. Oh, Pebbles worked on her air pad, found the rubber seal floating around inside and was able to repair it.

The view from my tent was spectacular.
